Queue a happy jive and screaming for joy at the same time as l am so excited to finally share about my Joyful Moments quilt pattern.  It is one of eight gorgeous projects featured in the Quilters Planner 2022, you can see who the other designers are here.  Pre-sales for the Planner opens up on 16 August 2021 with shipping starting on 1 September 2021 so do yourself a favour and go order yours now.  I sure can't wait to get my hands on mine and love on it real hard.

Joyful Moments was inspired by my childhood memories of all the fun games we used to play, in particular the ones we played using stones or pebbles.  From the moment we woke up, our goal was to quickly finish whatever we had to do aka clean ourselves up, eat breakfast and whatever chores we had so we could go play outside.   Two games in particular were my favourite chill out games were we did not need to run but put our hand eye coordination and strategic thinking to good use.  These were called Tsoro (similar to Mancala) and Nhodo (similar to Jacks).  Our driveway was full of small holes we made to play our games.  We would even carry these games inside the house at night time using imaginary circles, trust me, we knew if someone went out that imaginary circle..haha.  Our games were all DIY style when it came to what we used, eg stones found around the yard, plastics bags to make our balls which were the best kind to go the distance, hit hard and last longer or holes we dug (Nhodo in action) and (Mancala in action).  I could go on and on about these good old times but that will be digressing.  Joyful Moments will be that visual reminder of the simple pleasures in life.  The photos Kitty took are simply stunning and brings this design to life in the most glorious way.

Due to the tight schedule between making and posting the quilt to Kitty for photos, Lorinda took on the task of sewing up my quilt sample to get it done in time.  The fabrics chosen (Kona solids in Pomegranate, Duckling and Nautical) work together so well and the different threads she used for the straight line quilting makes for a stunning quilt finish, don't you think?

That gorgeous binding colour ties in and frames everything so nicely together.

The pattern is a simple one, made of circle and oval blocks and really easy to come together.  If you have been wanting to learn curves or enjoy sewing curves, Joyful Moments is the pattern for you.

Hi there, my name is Lynett and welcome to my Avenue!
I have an insane addiction to fabric and can happily spend all day in a fabric shop just ogling, touching and maybe(most likely) buying some.  l only need a teensy bit of encouragement and l will shop up.  I find so much joy in seeing new life breathed into these fabrics, turning them into some lovely modern makes to use in the home or gift to a special someone.
